Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine)
A marsupial carnivore which roamed mainland Australia, upto as recently as 300 years ago and still may exist in
the wilds of Tasmania, today.
This animal suckled its young like a wolf, while caring for the young pup in a pouch similar to a Kangaroo.
The Thylacine is commonly known as the Tassie Tiger by Tasmanians mainly due to the prominent striping across
the back.
At this stage the Thylacine is noted as an endangered species as one has not been officially sighted for over 50
years.
