Comments:
by Sprake:
Picture of Christ with crown of thorns, with a red cloak over His shoulders.

by Godden:
This, a religious silk rather than a true portrait, is a colourful representation of Christ wearing his crown of thorns, with a red cloak over his shoulders.
The title was first listed on label 23+34b of the later half of 1888 and is rarely found on the original card-mount of portrait size (as here illustrated), although the subject was a popular one for book or bible markers. It is also found on postcard mounts.

Other comments:
Both Sprake and Godden refer to Christ's red cloak. In reality, this same portrait is found, very rarely, with a purple cloak

This same silk is found reasonably frequently mounted in typical German card mounts (as the image on the right).
There is also an extremely rare MATER DOLOROSA with the same design as the image above {recorded as so389}, found so far only in German mounts, and is a pair with the version on the right.
