Comments:
by Sprake:
"Winter Gardens Blackpool" woven into the silk, below which is printed "A Present from Blackpool" and "Woven in the Winter Gardens Blackpool". The picture shows the Winter Gardens building and part of the town. The picture is found in sea-green colour throughout, and in red, and black and white.

by Godden:
At least two separate views were woven and mounted on card-mounts bearing this title, with the credit 'Woven in pure silk by Thomas Stevens, Stevengraph Works, Coventry'. The title was not included on the standard printed back-labels and it is apparent that these silks were sold in Blackpool as mementoes. Most mounts have the wording 'Woven in the Winter Gardens, Blackpool', conflicting with the standard credit relating to the Stevengraph Works at Coventry.
The title [of the second recorded view] is woven in the bottom right-hand corner of an aerial view of this vast Victorian building with its surrounds. The printed title A PRESENT FROM BLACKPOOL and the standard credit occur on the card-mount in the same manner as on the VIEW OF BLACKPOOL [st460 on this site]. One example seen by me had back-label 23+27+2 of March-April 1888. Both of these Blackpool mementoes [st460 and above] are now surprisingly rare, but other manufacturers made similar views of this popular seaside resort.
