Comments:
by Austin Sprake:
"The Death". The hunt is over. This picture was evidently not as popular as "The Meet" and "Full Cry" when it was manufactured because it is much less common today indicating that fewer copies were sold.

by Geoffrey Godden:
This landscape view is the death of a fox, with mounted huntsmen and hounds gathered round. This is the last and rarest of a set of three, the first being THE MEET [st428 on this site] and the second being FULL CRY [st248 on this site].

The subject is first listed on label 16, and is normally found on card-mounts of type B [as the image above] and, rarely, on type C or E mounts.

A rare variation has been noted in which the male figure in the top left-hand corner of the picture wears a blue coat, not the normal red one. [Note, in the image above it is the women rider who wears the blue coat, and this is the normal silk.]

Other comments:
Whilst the card mount includes the word 'Registered', this design was in fact not registered by Stevens.
