Comments:
This bookmark does not have any weavers name or mark.
It is attributed to Stevens only because it matches a silk bookmark within the Stevens' Family Album preserved at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry.
The style and quality of this bookmark is typical of Stevens.

Until such time however that this silk can be positively identified to Stevens, it is recorded here as if it were of his manufacture.

This bookmark has been seen attached to two slightly different printed stiff backing cards. Whilst these cards are typical of Stevens, they still do not have the actual weavers name:

Also recorded in this Stevens bookmark catalogue are a series of " SOUVENIR " bookmarks, featuring the Worlds Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893. Over several years the membership of the Stevengraph Collectors Association looked at the stiff backing papers for these SOUVENIR bookmarks. From admittedly a small sample, the conclusion was nevertheless drawn that:
where the printing on the cards said " SOUVENIR WOVEN AT THE . . ", the attached bookmark had been woven by STEVENS.
where the printing on the cards said " SOUVENIR OF DISCOVERY . . ", the attached bookmark had probably been woven by J.J. MANNION.
From this conclusion, both the above stiff cards would suggest this bookmark had been woven by Mannion.
