Comments:

by Geoffrey Godden:
This early Grant silk portrait, first issued in 1885, is similar to the Stevens portrait listed as number §88 [see so92], (which contains the historical background). Some Grant back-labels, however, have a summary of the career of Disraeli, the Earl of Beaconsfield, while others list only the available subjects.

As with the other political portraits, variations are found - often in the colouring of the flowers under the portrait - and the subject is found in large and small sizes; in colours, originally sold at 6d each; or in black and white at 3d (§1021a). Examples normally have the Grant name and address printed on the card-mount, under the silk.

Other comments:
The Jubilee Album is shown on this site as go36, and the portrait above of Disraeli, The Earl of Beaconsfield is contained within that album.

The normal version of Beaconsfield is recorded as go80 on this site. The version above is the one included in the Jubilee Album, and whilst the silk portrait is identical to the normal version, it is however mounted in a smaller size matt. This version [the image above] is smaller as the usual printed Grant credit below the silk has been omitted, thus enabling the card to fit into the overall Jubilee Album format.
