by Geoffrey Godden:
C. S. Parnell, M.P.
The Grant portrait of Charles Stewart Parnell ('the uncrowned King of Ireland') is listed on a printed back-label of late 1887 or 1888, but it would appear to have been soon discontinued (Parnell died in October 1891) and examples are now very rare. They have the title woven in coloured silks 'C. S. Parnell, M.P. for Cork'. The card-mount has the heading 'Ireland's Gifted Leader', with the printed title 'C. S. Parnell, M.P.'

Other comments:
A back label for Grant's 'All Hallows Church' has been stuck on the reverse of this particular card, but with the written side being stuck down, thereby showing the blank reverse side.
