This silk shows the reconstructed street which formed part of the 1886 Edinburgh Exhibition. W. H. Grant had a loom working here producing these silk views as momentoes. This scene, when sold separately, was priced at 1s, and the card-mount bears the printed wording 'A Present from the International Exhibition, Edinburgh, 1886'.
The same subject was, however, used in the 2s, multi-silk picture titled 'Old Edinburgh Views'.
