Friedrich Karl Nikolaus was born in Berlin on 20 March 1828, the son of Prince Charles of Prussia and grandson of King Frederick III. He served in the Prussian army from the age of ten. In 1854 he married Princess Marie Anne of Arnhalt-Dessau. In 1870 he commanded the second German army against France and was promoted General Field-Marshal during the Franco-German War. He died on 15 June 1885.

The subject HIS HIGHNESS THE LATE PRINCE FREDERICH CARL OF PRUSSIA follows MOLTKE in the list of portrait silks given on the printed back-label of Franz Drahne of Leipzig, but I have not seen a mounted silk answering to this description.
