Comments:
by Austin Sprake:
A Victorian tennis match in progress, with the players and spectators in gay colours

by Geoffrey Godden:
The picture shows a Victorian mixed-doubles lawn tennis scene, the players fully dressed for the occasion, as was the fashion. The title was first included on label 19a of about 1881 and continued to be listed into the twentieth century - although it would seem to have commanded a small sale, for examples are now very rare.
Specimens are normally found on type B card-mounts, but the subject should also be available on the later type C mounts and even on type D.
