same silk but woven
in opposite relief
[ornate pattern woven in relief,
but note each rectangle has different relief]
10.2cm deep by 5.0cm wide
The images above are of the same woven silk rectangle with silk fringes at top and bottom. The pattern is woven in relief on both silks, but note that they have opposite relief. It is very curious that the weaving should be adjusted in this way. It is almost as if one image were of the front and the other the back, but this is of course not the case, as neither the words nor the pattern is reversed.
Whilst there is no woven name, there can be no doubt it was woven by STEVENS.
