It is not known how, or if, this bookmark or favour is signed on the reverse.
However, the overall design, portrait of the Queen and other components are the same as the other favours recorded for SPENCER, and many of these have SPENCER'S name woven on the top turn over. There can be very doubt that this favour too was made by them.

This favour of course is to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. It would have been worn as a badge, with the pin pushed into suitable clothing.
