Comments:

by Geoffrey Godden:
The Grant portrait of Queen Victoria was issued in her Jubilee year - 1887. A small version was included in the Jubilee Album {recorded as go293}.

Other portraits of Queen Victoria depicted her as she was on her accession in 1837 (§955a) - [being go284 on this site].

The silks showing her in 1887 were issued in two sizes, one (§955) - {being the image above} - of 7 inches by 5 1/4 inches (17.8cm by 13.3cm), the other (§955b) 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches (15.2cm by 11.4cm) - {recorded as go293 on this site}.

In addition to these, a large Jubilee Trophy was made, measuring 9 inches by 7 inches (22.9cm by 17.8cm). This included a portrait silk of Queen Victoria, the Royal Arms and other emblems (§955c) - [being go4 on this site].

Other comments:
Godden above refers to two portraits issued in 1887. Further research has now established there are actually three:
go288: This is the portrait above, and is the larger version referred to by Godden. It has the portrait of Queen Victoria in a card mount with title above and below.
go292: This is also a larger version, but has the additional words " 1837 JUBILEE 1887 " woven into the silk below the portrait.
go293: The same silk as go292, but in a smaller card mount. The card mount is smaller as the usual Grant credit printed on the matt below the silk has been omitted, thus enabling the card to fit into the overall Jubilee Album format.
