Comments:

by Geoffrey Godden:
This small Grant silk was originally issued in 1886. An outline of John Bright's political career is given in so120, where the Stevens version is discussed.

This silk is found both in coloured silks and in the black-and-white version (§1035a). The words 'Peace, Retrenchment, Reform' are sometimes printed on the card-mount, above the portrait.
