Comments:
H.M.S. Mars was the seventh ship to bear that name. She was a Majestic-class pre-dreadnought battleship; launched in 1896 and commissioned in 1897. She was eventually decommissioned and scrapped in 1921.
Initially assigned to the Channel Fleet, at the outbreak of the First World War, she became a guard ship in the Humber. In 1915 however she was disarmed and served as a troop hsip, then a depot ship before being sold and scrapped in 1921.

The Majestic Class battleships were:

H.M.S. Caesar
H.M.S. Hannibal
H.M.S. Illustrious
H.M.S. Jupiter
H.M.S. Magnificent
H.M.S. Majestic
H.M.S. Mars
H.M.S. Prince George, and
H.M.S. Victorious.
So far, only four Grant silks are recorded, being Hannibal, Illustrious, Jupiter and Mars.
